Plus a growing slice in between: combi boilers in Holbrook Farms and the Grove space-saver builds where the homeowner didn't want to give up mechanical-room footage to a separate water heater.

Boilers aren't like furnaces. They heat water, circulate it through pex or copper, and deliver heat through radiators, baseboards, or radiant tubing. The right service approach depends on which technology you have. A 1948 cast iron unit in old downtown Lehi wants a completely different service than a 2023 Weil-McLain Ultra feeding 6 zones of slab radiant in a Traverse Mountain custom. Lehi-specific concern: hard water on condensing heat exchangers

This is the one that catches new construction customers off-guard. Lehi water out of the Jordan Valley aquifer is the hardest in our service area. Condensing boilers run a stainless heat exchanger that's relatively scale-tolerant, but if the boiler is also doing domestic hot water (combi units) and you don't have a whole-house softener, scale builds on the DHW side fast. We've pulled apart 3-year-old combis in Holbrook Farms with 3 mm of scale on the DHW pass. Solution: either a softener feeding the whole house, or accept that DHW-side service intervals on combis run twice as often without one.

New construction radiant boiler installs

Most new luxury Lehi builds we work on pair a Weil-McLain Ultra, Triangle Tube Prestige, or Burnham Alpine condensing boiler with a 4-6 zone radiant manifold and a backup forced-air system on a separate ductless or central condenser for cooling. We coordinate with the GC and flooring contractor on loop layouts, pressure-test every loop before slab pour or subfloor close-in, and tie the manifold to outdoor reset and zone thermostats. Communicating thermostats integrate with Home Assistant or SmartThings if you want.

Full boiler replacement is 1-2 days in most Lehi homes. Old unit drained, disconnected, removed. New boiler set and plumbed — supply, return, gas, condensate, PVC venting on condensing units. System refilled and air-purged loop by loop. Expansion tank sized for system volume. Circulator pump matched to flow requirements. Outdoor reset sensor mounted on a north wall. Combustion analysis on start-up, documented on the service ticket. Lehi City permit pulled and inspection scheduled.
