Hydro Jetting
HYDRO JETTING — SCRUB THE PIPE, NOT JUST PUNCH A HOLE
3,500+ PSI of water scours grease, scale, and small roots off the pipe wall. The right tool for older Copperton cast iron mains, recurring kitchen clogs in Sugar Factory, and Jordan Landing restaurant grease lines.

Overview
What hydro jetting actually does to your pipe
A drain snake punches a hole through the middle of a clog so water starts moving again. A hydro jet scrubs the entire inside wall of the pipe clean. Different tools, different results. If your kitchen line in Westridge keeps clogging every six months, a snake isn't solving it — the grease layer coating the pipe wall is still there narrowing the line, and a fresh clog is forming the day we leave. Jetting strips the grease layer off completely, and the line stays clear for 2-5 years.
A hydro jetter is essentially a pressure washer designed for the inside of a pipe. A high-pressure hose with a specialized nozzle is fed down the cleanout. The nozzle shoots water forward to break up the blockage and rearward to pull the hose deeper while blasting the pipe wall clean as it moves. Residential jetters run 3,500-4,000 PSI at 4-8 gallons per minute. Our commercial rigs push 4,000-5,000 PSI at 18+ GPM for restaurant grease traps and 4-inch+ mains.
When hydro jetting is the right call in West Jordan
- Recurring kitchen clogs — grease coats the pipe wall and no cable clears it fully
- Cast iron mains in older Copperton, Westridge, and 7800 South homes built 1950-1975 — scale buildup (tuberculation) narrows the pipe by 30-50% over decades
- Small root intrusion — roots under 1/4 inch get sheared off with a root-cutting nozzle; bigger root mats need trenchless repair
- Restaurant and commercial lines — Jordan Landing kitchens, Mountain View Village retail, apartment buildings — anywhere grease or soap scum builds up fast
- Pre-inspection prep — we want a clean pipe before running a camera so the lens can actually see the wall
- Post-jet maintenance schedule — once we jet a commercial line, we usually set a quarterly or semi-annual cycle to keep it that way
When hydro jetting is the wrong call
We'll tell you. Jetting a pipe with a structural crack, a belly, or a collapsed section just makes the problem worse — you're blasting water at a damaged wall and potentially washing dirt into a widening gap. If the camera scope shows structural damage, we stop and price a trenchless repair or main lining instead of jetting a pipe that needs replacing.
What's different in West Jordan
Older subdivisions east of Bangerter (Copperton, eastside Westridge, 7800 South corridor) often have original cast iron mains from the 1950s-1970s. Tuberculation builds up over decades and snake-only service is a losing battle on those pipes — you'll be back every six months. Hydro jetting once, then maintaining annually, is the smart play. Newer Daybreak-adjacent and Oquirrh Lakes builds have PVC mains in good shape and rarely need jetting unless there's a specific commercial-style buildup issue.
Restaurants in Jordan Landing and the Bangerter retail strip are on quarterly grease-line jet schedules with most of our commercial accounts. Apartment buildings and HOAs generally do annual main jets to prevent the embarrassment-level backups that affect multiple tenants at once.
What Valley brings to the job
Every drain truck on our fleet carries a residential jetter. We have dedicated commercial jetting rigs for restaurants and property managers running 4-inch and larger mains. Our techs run a camera before and after on most jet jobs — you see the grease coating in the before shot, and bare pipe wall in the after shot. No guessing, no "trust me, it worked." Pricing is flat-rate and quoted upfront, before we start. Quality Service Club members get 15% off plus locked-rate annual maintenance jetting.

Warning signs
Signs Your Line Needs Jetting, Not Just a Snake
A snake will open a line. Jetting is what you call when you're tired of opening the same line over and over.
Same kitchen drain has clogged twice or more in the past 18 months
Cable snake works for a few weeks, then the clog comes right back
Slow drainage across multiple fixtures tied to the same branch
Restaurant or food service kitchen with chronic grease buildup
Home built before 1980 with original cast iron sewer mains
Laundry floor drain backs up when the washer dumps
Recurring sewer odor in basement or utility room
Camera shows a layer of sludge coating the pipe wall
Apartment, duplex, or HOA main line with heavy shared use
Water backs up briefly when the dishwasher runs

Pipe-wall clean
Stop snaking the same line four times a year.
A snake opens a hole. A jetter scrubs the whole pipe. If you're tired of the cycle, this is the fix. 5 minutes from most West Jordan addresses.

The Process
How a Hydro Jetting Job Runs

On the truck
Cable machine, jetter, and pipe camera — every call.
Camera inspection first
We run a camera down the line before jetting. Two reasons — confirm jetting is the right tool (not a broken pipe that needs repair), and size the pressure and nozzle correctly for what we're dealing with.
Stage the cleanout
Access matters. We pull the cleanout cap, set up containment for splashback, and position the jetter's hose reel to match pipe orientation. Cleanout access is fastest; pulled-toilet or roof-vent access adds time.
Select nozzle and pressure
Standard flush nozzle for grease and soft buildup. Root-cutting nozzle for small root intrusion. Chain-knocker for heavy scale. Residential is 3,500-4,000 PSI, commercial mains run up to 5,000 PSI.
Jet the full line
Hose feeds down to the furthest point, then we work it back in sections, scrubbing the pipe wall in both directions. 45 minutes for a typical residential kitchen line, up to 3 hours for a commercial main.
Post-jet camera and flow test
We run the camera back down the clean pipe so you see the result. Flow test confirms normal drainage at every affected fixture. If maintenance jetting makes sense, we schedule the next visit before we leave.
