Gas Line Work in Older Orem Homes
Gas line work is licensed work. Utah requires a DOPL-licensed plumber for every gas repair, every new line, and every appliance hookup. Every tech we send on a gas call is licensed, the work is permitted, and the city of Orem inspects it. There's no DIY shortcut on this one — gas leaks aren't the kind of mistake you can fix later.
Most of our Orem gas calls fall into three buckets:
- Leak detection on aging black-iron lines — Orem homes from the 60s and 70s have original black-iron gas distribution that's now 50+ years old. Threaded joints develop pinhole leaks. We find them with electronic gas detectors and pressure-isolation tests.
- Appliance hookups — new range, new dryer, new water heater, new furnace, new gas fireplace, new outdoor BBQ line. We size the line, run it, pressure-test, and pull the permit.
- Tankless water heater conversions — Orem homes built before 1995 typically have 1/2" gas lines. Tankless needs 3/4" minimum, sometimes 1". We upgrade the line, coordinate with Dominion Energy on meter upsize if needed, and connect the new unit.
