What maintenance doesn't do

It doesn't make a 15-year-old R-22 unit young again. If your compressor is on its last legs — common on the original-cohort systems in older eastside subdivisions — a tune-up won't save it. What it will do is give you honest warning: "this unit is showing 8+ signs of end-of-life, plan replacement this fall" beats "your AC died on July 4th and we're booked two weeks out."
