SUMP PUMP INSTALL & REPAIR — BASEMENT FLOOD PROTECTION

A sump pump sits in a pit at the lowest point of your basement and pumps water out to a discharge point outside the house. It protects against groundwater intrusion, perimeter drain backup, and minor flooding events. An ejector pump is a different beast — it pumps sewage uphill from a basement bathroom or laundry that's below the main sewer line.

Sump pumps in Old Lehi

Old Lehi homes (Main Street area, older neighborhoods) frequently have sump pumps because of high seasonal groundwater. Spring runoff from snowmelt can saturate soil around basements built before modern waterproofing techniques. A working sump pump is the difference between a dry basement and a flooded one. Pump replacement every 7-10 years is normal; battery backup is strongly recommended for power-outage protection.

Sump pumps in newer Lehi

Newer Lehi homes (Traverse Mountain, Holbrook Farms, Skye Estates, Cold Springs Ranch, Spring Creek) typically have sump pits installed by builders even if the perimeter drain rarely activates. The pit is there as belt-and-suspenders flood protection. Many homes have sump pumps that have never run — but when they need to run, they need to work. We service these pumps even when there's no active failure.

Ejector pumps for basement bathrooms

Below-grade bathrooms (basement bath addition, walkout basement bath, finished basement laundry) often need an ejector pump to lift waste water up to the main sewer line. New-construction basement finishes in Lehi commonly need this — the rough-in is usually pre-stubbed but the pump system isn't installed until the basement is finished out.

1. Submersible sump pumps — primary residential type. 1/3 to 1/2 HP, cast iron or stainless steel. Most Lehi installs are 1/3 HP submersible

5. Ejector pumps for sewage — sealed pit pump for basement bathrooms below sewer line. Different design than sump pumps
6. Smart sump monitors — water-level sensors and battery monitors that alert via Wi-Fi/Home Assistant if the pump fails or battery dies

Why battery backup matters in Lehi

Power outages and storm events are when sump pumps are needed most. The same wind storm that knocks out power often comes with rain that saturates yards and triggers groundwater intrusion. A primary sump pump on AC power doesn't help if the power's out. Battery backup runs the pump for 6-24 hours on its own battery, depending on usage. Cheap insurance — $385-$850 typical install for the secondary pump.
